OTTAWA (April 19, 2010) – In Canadian coastal communities, lighthouses play an integral role in facilitating safe and effective marine navigation while often anchoring tourism activities and fostering community identity. The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans study into the evolving role of Canada’s lighthouses is wide-reaching in its focus with the aim of providing strong public policy recommendations to the Government of Canada.
